Jon Spencer is an American singer, composer and scuzz-rocking guitarist-vocalist-producer who fused ernest traditionalism and destructive tendencies. Jon fronts/fronted such noise-punk-blues-garage-rock bands BOSS HOG, PUSSY GALORE, HEAVY TRASH and THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION.
These bands and Spencer's radical sonic approach would go on to influence other early 21st-century acts such as THE WHITE STRIPES, THE BLACK KEYS, BECK, TY SEGALL, THE KILLS, THE DEAD WEATHER, and THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS.
Throughout Spencer's career his experimental sound, daring songwriting, and occasionally unconventional studio techniques have allowed him to work with a number of diverse artists including ELLIOT SMITH, BECK, SOLOMON BURKE, STEVE ALBINI, MARTINA TOPLEY-BIRD, THE BEASTIE BOYS, R.L. Jon wrote the song 「Onna Machin Gun」for Japanese duo Puffy/Puffy AmiYumi. Also recorded in English under the title 「Go Baby Power Now」
THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION wrote and recorded the theme song 「No Reservations」for Anthony Bourdain's “No Reservations” television series show.
THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION wrote and recorded the fictional song 「Don’t Wanna Live Like The Dead」 for the film『Grasshopper』.
Jon wrote and recorded the ending theme song 「Here Come The Fuzz」 for the film 『Hot Fuzz』.
